Allstate Protection Plans Finds the New iPhone SE Lives Up to Its Improved Durability Claims
All drop tests on the iPhone SE showed only minor damage to the screen.
The new Apple iPhone SE range hit stores last week with three new colors and claims of improved durability thanks to updated toughen glass screens. After putting them through its Breakability Drop Test, Allstate Protection Plans has found these claims to be true. Despite a much lower price point, Allstate Protection Plans found the iPhone SE range to be comparable to the flagship iPhone 13 smartphones.
Introduced in 2013, Allstate Protection Plans Breakability Tests (formerly SquareTrade Breakability Tests) give consumers an independent assessment of device durability and how they live up to the rigors of daily life. They consider a device's physical characteristics, such as size, components, and materials that affect its repairability and performance in standardized robotic tests that simulate the most common causes of device damage.
“It seems Apple has made a significant effort in ensuring its iPhone SE phones are comparable in features and durability to its flagship iPhones. All drop tests showed only minor damage to the screen, which is impressive,” said Jason Siciliano, Allstate Protection Plan vice president of marketing and creative director. “At $429, these models are more affordable but can still cost $129 to have screens replaced. That is why protection plans, cases and screen protectors are always recommended.”
